Fine Art wedding album | Roneeta and Peter

Fine Art wedding album | Roneeta and Peter

Another beautiful Fine Art album, this time containing images from Roneeta and Peter’s summer wedding day at Nunsmere Hall, and designed as a show album for the venue; hence the contact information on the first and last pages.  A steel blue cotton cover was chosen, to complement the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s ties.

Once more, the story of the day is paramount when designing the spreads.  The idea behind every complete design is to lead the reader through the day, telling the story of events as they unfolded.  At certain points, I want you to pause and draw breath, to study certain aspects more closely, but ultimately the design is aimed at giving an overall feel for the mood of the wedding day.  So, images are arranged in ordered blocks, each spread showing off a particular point of the day.  Use is made of image size to draw emphasis to certain elements or moments.

And certain key images are displayed full page or double page, for impact.  Once again, the key differences between the Fine Art book and the more classic matted style of album are the ability to fill a page, without any border, and to cross the central spine of the book without any break to the image; turning the page to see a huge 24 inch photo creates real impact.  Obviously, the key is to not have too many ‘wow’ pages in the design, or the level of impact is diluted though.  So they are used sparingly, either for a portrait shot, or to show off a photograph containing lots of different elements that deserve careful study (a shot of the venue room set for the wedding breakfast, or the interior of a church, for instance, the size allowing the eye to move around the frame, taking in all the different elements, features and details that are lost in a smaller copy).
