Queensberry Duo wedding album | Holly and Chris’s Arley Hall wedding

While they manufacture several different styles of high end album, the Queensberry Duo wedding album is probably the signature book made by the New Zealand company.  It’s called this because it combines the attributes of the classic matted album (fabulous quality of craftsmanship, real photographs under matted overlays)  with the stylistic flair of a digital album (the ability to print to the edge of the page, with a clean, crisp finish).  What that means in practice is you can combine matted pages with full page images in one album.  And the effect is stunning.

Holly and Chris married at Christmas and chose a Queensberry 12×12 inch Duo with a classic Navy leather cover for their wedding album.  On first sight, the album appears quite traditional, and some of the spreads follow suit with neat, symmetrical layouts.  In this respect they echo a lot of the mood of the wedding day – how could a Christmas time military wedding shot in a beautiful mediaeval church and a fabulous Cheshire stately home not be traditional?  But turn the page and come across a full page portrait and things become bang up to date.  That’s the power of the Duo.  It strides the line between traditional and modern quite beautifully.

The secret in designing a Duo is to keep the impact of the full pages high, but not having too many in the design.  They punctuate the narrative flow of the album, causing you to stop and look at a portrait, before continuing with the story of the day.
