The personalised wedding album

Every wedding album that I create for a couple is personalised.  As I offer a bespoke service, every album is different.  It starts with your shortlist of photos – there’s no set number of images that you can choose.  And I don’t start thinking about a design until I’ve got the photos in front of me.  Only then do I begin to look for groups that would work together, and start to identify the signature and standout photos that will want size and space.  Of course, I design in a particular style, and there are ideas and layouts that I like and that work; but I don’t try to cram your photos into them.  Rather, it’s the other way round – the design comes from looking at the photos you’ve selected and by creating spreads that show those photos off to the maximum.  Plus,  I always send a draft to you for comment.  It’s your wedding album, your memories – I want you to still enjoy looking at it years later.  So it’s important that you’ve had an input into the look of the spreads.

Then there are the finishing touches.  What cover will you choose?  Will you opt for a sumptuous leather, with an individual grain, that will age gracefully?  Perhaps you would prefer a manmade material, whether for aesthetic or ethical reasons?  No matter, you’ll have plenty of choice of colour and texture.  And then the final decision – do you keep the cover plain (the minimalist in me says ‘yes!’) or do we personalise it with your names?  Entirely your decisions, as it’s entirely your wedding album.

Here’s a recent album that I designed and had made for Helen and Martin.  It’s another square Folio (the twelve inch version this time), incorporating just over 100 photos.  The cover is Graphite leather, picked to match the guys’ suits perhaps.  The photos below show the box that the album arrives in, along with the cotton cloth bag its stored in.  And at the foot of the post is a slideshow showing the entire design, across twenty five spreads.  Please click through this if you’d like to see the entire set of layouts.
